Karaoke - from the Japanese, meaning "Empty orchestra"
The Triangle Karaoke Singers and Fans meetup is for people who enjoy singing (or hanging out with people who enjoy singing). If your friends and family think you're a little weird for wanting to go out and sing with strangers, we are your tribe! We're only strange until you get to know us.
We visit various venues around the Triangle - bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. While a restaurant might be considered "all ages", the bars we frequent are 21+ only.
We welcome members at all levels of ability, from the beginner to the classically trained. You'll always find a mixture at any of our events. No matter how good (or bad) you are, remember - we are your tribe and will always applaud loudly for our own. We are your #1 fan!
*If you always wanted to sing but were afraid, we can help you! We are your tribe!
*If you love to sing and just need some cool people to hang out with who also love to sing, we are your tribe!
*If you don't sing, but just want to hang with some cool people who do, we are your tribe!
*If you are new to the area and don't know where to go to get your karaoke fix, we are your tribe!
*If you are looking for a date or a "hook-up", you are in the wrong place. We are NOT your tribe.
(Disclaimer: Triangle Karaoke Singers is not a dating site and should not be treated as such. There are other websites out there for that. If you are a member and feel like you are being harassed by another member, please let someone on the Leadership Team know, and it will be taken care of.)
Please Note - we don't have a lot of rules, because our main goal is to have fun. However, please make sure you follow these few rules - they are in place to ensure the safety of our members, and to ensure we are invited back to the venues we attend as a group:
We require a face picture on your profile. This is to ensure the security of our group and reduce spam, and it also helps the event hosts identify you.
When you RSVP to an event, the Host uses that to secure a table or tables so we have enough seating for everyone. It's very embarrassing to ask for a table for 10 and only 4 show up. It's also frustrating for the server who couldn't seat anyone at that table because it was set aside for our use. The Host will be editing the attendance for each meetup, and if you are a No Show, that will be reflected in the attendance records. Three No Shows will have you removed from the Group.
Please keep in mind, we are all volunteers. We do this because we love singing, and we love karaoke. We take time out of our day to set things up, call the venue or KJ to verify the show is still scheduled, we arrive early so we can have our tables ready when members show up... there are a LOT of things that happen behind the scenes that you don't see. Please let your host know you appreciate the time they took to host a show.
