Dr. Sukhraj Dhillon will be leading a discussion on Health, Science, Religion, and Spirituality. A rare blend that brings science and spirituality together which are generally treated as oil and water. He looks on concept of god, and Science, religion & spirituality from Eastern and Western point of view. He describes benefits of focusing on our spiritual-self that leads to tranquility, increased production, a resurgence of vitality, mental clarity, and joy of living. An understanding of science, religion, and spirituality will put us on a road to love and happiness irrespective of our faith.

Dr. Sukhraj S. Dhillon has advanced degrees in life sciences and molecular biology from the west and a fascination with yoga, breathing, religion and spirituality from the east crafted out of studies at Yale University, U.S.A. and Punjab University, India. Therefore, he is uniquely qualified to present Eastern and Western synthesis of health, religion and spiritual issues. He has published over 10 books and 40 research papers, and has expressed his views in the news media and workshops. Dr. Dhillon has an obsession that nature has created us healthy and we are all connected with each other; it's us who have created unhealthy living and divisions into race, religion etc. (http://www.authorsden...)

    •  It was refreshing to see comments by Julie T. She observed just the opposite for what I am known for. What I am known for is covering too much and too advanced which is hard for some one, for example, without science to follow. I realized that I could not make a proper case during talk. I learned after wards that I left the impression that God and Man are the same. That will make over 6 billion gods when the fact is there is only one god. Man is image of god but not god. The attributes of a spiritual state of mind or enlightened soul can be the same as that of God. I appreciate, John's remarks about clearing some misunderstanding during later discussions. John's assumption is right that I do go in much deeper detail in the book. It took 200 pages to really explain what I wanted to convey. I had many quotes from sikh scriptures but it was not totally sikh philosophy either. Anyway I take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended and took part in discussion. Thanks.
    •  His talk provoked some good questions, but he didn't/couldn't address most of them. It was clear that his talk was designed for a group of people that is less experience, less educated, and less open-minded than ours. His response to one of the questions at the end even suggested that (something like: "That's a good questions - I thought this might be a smart bunch"). Most of the subject matter might have been novel to me when I was a child in the early 1960's; nonetheless, it was nice to hear what he had to say.
    •  Great fun with the Q&A session and discussions afterwards. The presentation itself was confusing at times, but a lot of that confusion was cleared up when someone asked Dr. Dhillon about the source of his scriptural quotes (turned out to be Sikhism). It seems like most of his opinions came from Sikhism---no problem, but it would have been nice to know that up-front. Then the beliefs he favored (e.g., believing in reincarnation but not karma, being non-dualist but believing in God, etc.) would have made more sense. The points about the potential compatibility between science and religion were rather old-hat to most of us and sorta skimmed over quickly, but I can't fault him for that due to the limited time span. It looks like he goes much deeper in his books, and we were mostly getting snapshots of his conclusions. Many thanks to Dr. Dhillon and all the attendees for thoughtful conversation!
