Newbie Nirvana- Learning the Ropes

Ready to learn how to belay and climb with a top rope? TRC has agreed to run a beginner's class for us. They will teach newbies how to safely belay a climbing partner. You will be able to pass the belay certification test afterwards, and then you're free to climb to your heart's content. TRC will charge $10 for this training - and you can pay at the door.

Note - As always, if this is your first time at the Triangle Rock Club with the TRC Meetup, you get in for free and will just need to pay for the training. If you've been to TRC before, you'll pay the normal TRC Meetup admission rate ($13), plus the $10 for the class. Note - TRC offers a full range of climbing instruction, so check out their other offerings too.

What are the least busy/least crowded nights to climb?

    August 3, 2013

    • Samantha W.

It really just depends, but the least crowded times are typically weekend evenings and weekdays before 7ish. We are building an expansion and a new location opens up in September, so soon there will be even more room!

Hey Sophie, don't forget to rsvp for the meetup field trip event to North Raleigh on the 22nd. And include that you would like a van seat in that RSVP!

Hey Alex! Looking forward to meeting you and your guest! The meetup day pass includes a harness (free for your first visit, otherwise $13). Shoe rental is not included though. You are welcome to climb in sneakers, or rent some climbing shoes ($4). Also, the beginner class is $10 regardless of if it is your first time or not. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Is the harness and shoe rental free, or do we need to pay for those?

My guest is not belay certified, and would like to learn :) I can't wait to meet ya'all!
