I bet you've experienced this: you love climbing and you take a picture to show your friends and family. What do you get: the dreaded butt shot (a generally unflattering view that makes the climber's legs look thick and stumpy and butts wide as a highway). There's just no dignity in the butt shot, folks.
Tonight we'll do a quick primer on good photography tips for climbing shots. And we'll launch a photo contest. After the training, we challenge you to get some good shots and post them to our meetup website. You'll have the rest of the month of May to do your magic. Then we'll pick the best of the best and that lucky person will win a prize. There will be a category for best photograph taken at the TRC and best outdoor climbing photograph.
Note: Participation in the contest is option. You're welcome to simply come and climb tonight or just listen to the photography primer. Your first visit to the gym with the meetup is free admission and harness rental, and subsequent visits with the meetup are $13 and include harness rental (outside of meetups, day pass rates of $17 apply and do not include harness rental).
