Sketching at Golden Belt -Artist studios in Durham

Golden Belt

Golden Belt is an old textile mill that has been re-purposed into artist studio space, galleries, office space and condos.  It is one of the creative hearts of Durham.  The complex is also home to Liberty Arts - a sculpture studio and gallery-  and Scrap Exchange, which is such a great place to buy all sorts of things to take home and create with.  One of our members, Ellen, did the best pen and ink drawing of the inside last year.  Check it out at the bottom of the page. Blend Cafe is next to Labor of Love Gallery and is a welcoming place to grab a cup of coffee and a treat.

Drawing here is full of possibilities, but I also just want to share this favorite place.  It is worth the trip to find it.

We will meet at Blend at 1:00 and then back again at 3:00 for our sketch share.

Blend has closed. OOOOOOOHHHHH! Just found out this morning. We are going to meet at the Scrap Exchange at 1:00. It is in the same complex and we can gather in warmth.

    Hey you Sketchers,
I am looking forward to drawing with you tomorrow afternoon at one of my favorite places in Durham. It is so exciting to be in a place where so much creative activity is going on at different times.

It is worth the trouble to find both Golden Belt and then Blend once you have gotten there. Don't despair, everything is all there together and after you have learned some of the twists and turns you will be fine:)

I will be waiting for you at Blend to say hi and get you acclimated. I will be there until at least 1:15, I might even stay at Blend and draw. If you miss me, just find a place to sketch and then join the group back at Blend at 3:00 for our sketch share.

Here is my phone number if you need to reach me:[masked]-3836.
    See you soon!

This is quite a nice location. I'll be using my tablet for digital sketching at this event.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
