FYI: UNC Animal Law Symposium

*This is not an official Meetup event, just information regarding a public event that TVSC members might be interested in attending.

From the Animal Law Symposium event page on Facebook:

The UNC Law Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) is hosting our second annual Animal Law Symposium on Saturday, March 23.

We will release a detailed agenda once all speakers are confirmed, but we can tell you that the symposium will include:

Keynote speaker will be journalist and author Will Potter presenting "Criminalizing Animal Activism: 'Ag Gag' Bills and the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act"

Panels and speakers will include:

Equine Law panel
Wake County's Trap-Neuter-Return feral cat ordinance panel
Calley Gerber, Gerber Animal Law Center
Caleb Scott, North Carolina Voters for Animal Welfare (NCVAW)

There will be a vegan lunch (catered by Vimala's Curryblossom cafe) and light breakfast.

There are a limited number of spaces again, so please register in advance! Tickets are $5 for general admission and free for students (but students must register online also). Registration can be completed online here: https://events.law.unc.edu/register/?cid=2411.

We hope to have another successful symposium: http://www.examiner.com/review/unc-saldf-s-animal-law-symposium-ruled-an-overwhelming-success

We look forward to seeing you, and be sure to register soon before space runs out!

Excellent! Such an incredible event that I'd been looking forward to for a long time. It was fantastic to interact with other participants, panelists, and lawyers/law students. Will Potter's talk was great, as were the other panels. Lunch was delicious; so were the vegan baked goods and Girl Scout Cookies! Thanks so much to the organizers for putting on such a successful symposium.
