Game Night: Three Kingdom Killers (San Guo Sha)

  • Oct 17, 2009 · 3:00 PM
  • The Lodge Club House

The Three Kingdom Killers are back! Sorry about the short notice, we are going to host it at the Lodge this time! See you on Saturday!

Three Kingdom Killers (San Guo Sha) is one of the hottest Chinese-themed card games now in China. The game includes 10 identity cards, 25 role cards, 10 strength cards, 104 game cards, and a rulebook. All texts are in simplified Chinese. The cards are in simplified chinese, so we will be pairing up native and non-native Chinese speakers on teams. So we'll not only have fun, but it will be a great way to learn Chinese.

Event Logistics:

  • Bring a snack to share if you like.

How to Play: We will send the manual (in simplified Chinese to participants before the event). The differences between this game and Bang! are as follows:

  • The Master (Sheriff) may get additional skill.
  • Weapon gets additional effect and becomes more powerful.
  • The Dead may return to the game (start with 1 life) when he gets 3 or 4 cards from other players. Player may only give 1 card to the Dead within his round. The rised Dead are not counted to the winning condition.
  • A New card to let player borrow a weapon from others.
  • A New card to cancel the effect of other cards.
  • Peach (Beer) may be played by any player when someone just loss his last life. There is no exemption of using Peach when there are only 2 players left.
  • The game process as anti-clockwise.
  • All remaings (cards or rules) of this game is identical as Bang!.

Although we had a great time, understanding the rules was still bit of challenging...if we want to do this again, we definitely should develop a bilingual manual and everyone has a copy to speed up the speed.

It was fun playing the game; however, I think we need to have a translated worksheet to help those of us that can't read the speciality cards.

I'll work on this for the next time.
