A Slice of Southern German Creation - Sunday Brunch at Guglhupf Cafe

After Fickle Creek Farm, Welkin has spotted another gem for folks who enjoy healthy foods! The Cafe was a recent addition to Guglhupf, a bakery and cafe in Durham owned by Claudia Kemmet-Cooper, a German native with a reputation of outstanding artisanship and attention to quality. Here you will find their finest quality creations using only local fresh produce and unique preparation inspired by passion for food.

In pursuit of the finest bread, cheese, wine, coffee, desert or pastries (or whatever heavenly food makes you indulge yourself in), we are thinking about trying out their Sunday brunch and teleport ourselves to Germany for a quick journey :) The cafe do offer sharing platters, I've uploaded the brunch menu to "Files", if you want to check out what they offer and the pricing. The Guglhupf Bakery & Cafe Company website has more details on their schedule, directions, menus, pictures, etc.

Great food, great companies on a sunny, relaxed Sunday afternoon. What more can one ask for.

This place was really a mad house (for a good reason), but loved the food and sun bathing...and glad to catch up with some folks. Thanks Kevin for getting the meat and cheese platters to share!

The restaurant was very crowded and not well set up for a party our size but we made ourselves a place outside in the sun. The food was good and the company and conversation were great.

Hi all, the cafe doesn't take reservation for Sunday brunch so we will just order at the counter and find seats, the peak hours are from 10:30~noon, so by the time we get there, it should slow down a bit. The brunch is till 3pm so we should have plenty of time!
