Dear all,

Mike and I are flying out of town tonight so I would like to send out this email one day earlier. So far we have $130 dollars committed to keep our meetup group going. What a success!!! Thank you everyone, who took the initiative to contribute...and it was indeed touching to read some of the emails: Bob as a new member is willing to give it a try, two couples - Peter and Teresa, Tom and Amy although use one account, are willing to contribute $10.  There are also plenty of members willing to contribute more than $5 dollars. Anyway since we have exceeded $72, lets just keep it $5 at this time :) But thank you for your quick response and we really proved that this group (especially Eric) has provided great value for all of us and its worthwhile to keep it going.

I would also like to send out the following link, Jennifer is running 26.2K in December for the cause of fighting blood cancers, please visit her site to support this good cause:

For anyone who's interested in taking the Chinese language courses, please take a moment to visit the Confucius Institute website, if you have any questions, Guanglin Dai, our assistant organizer, who's the director of the Confucius Institute at NCSU, will be able to help you out. Check out this great option for learning Chinese, it is very cost effective.

And we are working on getting Pat's son-in-law Chi involved in this group, Chi is from HK.

Thank you Sue,  for taking up the important role as the organizer! Sue has asked me to continue the collection process for the contribution. So next week, Mike will set up a goolge checkout payment method for members who prefer to contribute online. But it will always be better if you could give me the cash at future meetups- no fees will be taken by any third party.

Here are the members who has committed to contribute:

Anjing Wang
Darla Yancho
Darriel Williams
Eric and LiHua
Eugene Tay
Pat Hill
Peter Wright  (x2)
Shi Yu Meng (Mike)
Sue G.
Tenney Woo
Tom O'Connor   (x2)

For members who haven't had a chance to email me, it's never too late - one for all, all for one!

Hi everyone,

I think one solution to keep the group available on is to have all the members contribute towards the cost of the website maintenance, which is $72 for six months. Eric has been covering the costs in the past our of his own pocket but going forward, we could all split the cost if we, as a group, want to continue to keep this meetup and continue to welcome new members. It will be a shame to let this group go since Michael and I have learned so much from people we met in this group, as a matter of fact, this is where we met last December and we continued to explore and find interesting things to do through this great social network.

Eric has sent me a complete list of the members we would like collect 5 dollars per member, this is how it works:

1) If you want to keep this group going, please send me a confirmation email at "[address removed]"as a commitment to contribute $5 dollars per account before October 31st, Friday. Please note it is "qiu" not "qui".

2) I will publish the result on November 1st, and provide list of contributors and how much is committed. I will pay for the $72 dollars first then collect the money afterwards, probably through face-to-face meetups, or you can send me a check or pay through Google Checkout after November 1st. Whatever funds that's over $72 dollars will be paid towards future subscriptions to this Triangle Area Chinese Language and Culture Group at

If there's not enough contributions, then the group will expire on November 23rd, 2008.

Greetings everyone,
For the past two years, I have worked to maintain and expand this group and it has been a great journey. I have met and made many new friends and have watched our membership grow from 4 to 112 members. However, the time has come for someone else to step up and lead.
My own career and life changes and a desire not to let this groups direction grow stagnant are among the reasons I am stepping down. It is time for someone new to take over and lead the direction of the group.

I posted an earlier request to some members of the group asking if they desired to take over, however, no one has responded. No I put the offer to the entire group membership.

The group will remain active on the meetup site until November 23, 2008 after which, if no one steps up to lead, it will close.

Xie xie to everyone who has provided me with friendship and assistance these past two years. I wish the best to you all.
