Subject: [chinese-332] Contribution to the Chinese Meetup Group - WE MADE IT!!!

Dear members of the Triangle Chinese Meetup Group,

Here is the original email I sent out in Oct to collect contribution from members to keep our group alive. On November 1st, we've got enough funds committed to cover the whole year. Our organizer Sue Googe went ahead and made the payment for the next six months. Therefore, we are able to continue enjoying being part of this network, for at least another six months.

So far I have collected enough actual contribution to cover the maintenance fee for the next six months and I will pay back Sue tonight at the Potluck party.

This is just a friendly reminder, for some new members who just joined and may not know about the contribution, this is a voluntary $5 per account contribution only to help cover the maintenance fee of our group on, and for members who have not contributed and willing to help out to reach our one year goal that was committed, you can still go to the website using google checkout, the fee taken out by google will be 2% plus .20.

Like some of us have already done, you can always give me the cash at the meetups. The upcoming one is 7pm tonight. Again, this is voluntary, but please remember, one for all, all for one

I will publish the details of the final $ contribution and list of names on December 1st.

Thank you very much.

Hi everyone,

I think one solution to keep the group available on is to have all the members contribute towards the cost of the website maintenance, which is $72 for six months. Eric has been covering the costs in the past our of his own pocket but going forward, we could all split the cost if we, as a group, want to continue to keep this meetup and continue to welcome new members. It will be a shame to let this group go since Michael and I have learned so much from people we met in this group, as a matter of fact, this is where we met last December and we continued to explore and find interesting things to do through this great social network.

Eric has sent me a complete list of the members we would like collect 5 dollars per member, this is how it works:

1) If you want to keep this group going, please send me a confirmation email at "[address removed]"as a commitment to contribute $5 dollars per account before October 31st, Friday. Please note it is "qiu" not "qui".

2) I will publish the result on November 1st, and provide list of contributors and how much is committed. I will pay for the $72 dollars first then collect the money afterwards, probably through face-to-face meetups, or you can send me a check or pay through Google Checkout after November 1st. Whatever funds that's over $72 dollars will be paid towards future subscriptions to this Triangle Area Chinese Language and Culture Group at

If there's not enough contributions, then the group will expire on November 23rd, 2008.
