I won't be able to attend Warren's ride on the 4th, so I plan on riding the American Tobacco Trail (ATT) on New Year's Day. This for me will be symbolic of starting the year off on healthier note. I plan on riding the 7 mile route first for those that want to ride with the group but not go the entire length of the ATT, after completing the 7 mile route I plan on embarking on the 13 mile route for a total of twenty miles. Come for all or part of the ride, happy to have anyone who wishes to ride along.

Don't forget to bring a Hydration source and to make sure your tires are fully inflated, both of these will make your ride more enjoyable.

As always Trikke at your own risk, on the trails you do encounter some obvious hazards and sometimes some not so obvious hazards. Just be careful and have fun.

Afterward I may collapse in to a local restaurant, if they are any open.

The forcasted temperature for Durham this afternoon @ 1PM is 35 degrees F. Dress warmly, I would suggest full fingered gloves for the trail.

This ride would be a great start for the new year. It could also be a training ride for the Myrtle Beach Trip in Feb.

    •  Great group for a ride! Weather was fine and sunny. It would be nice if someone took a blower to the gum balls on the trail. They were very tricky. But, hey -- I made it all the way up the long hill this time!! Not quite sure what my total mileage was because my Garmin (or me) messed up, but Ippy and I went back up the trail to the Fayetteville Road Crossing and then back to the shopping center lot. I guess it added about 2 miles to the loop. I'm bushed -- but happy!
    •  This was a kick ass ride!!! A lot easier than the last time I tried it. The long hill on the way back still got me a little bit, I have a bad habit of not pacing myself for the distance of the ride... Then I get worn out easier when I really need the energy. Overall I think everyone hung in there really well. I'm definitely looking forward to the next time.
    •  WoW! 13 1/2 miles was a challenge but great. Now I really have a goal to meet!
    •  Good ride, trail was covered with sweet gum seed pods
