St Patrick's Parade- Royal Oak

OK Folks-- Time for the Wearin' of the Green!!!

The first time we marched in this parade (2009), we had 135+ people....

COME OUT FOR THIS EVENT EVEN IF YOU SKIP EVERYTHING ELSE WE DO!

The Parade marches Rain or Shine.  Dress appropriately.

This is a leashed walk, but LOTS of fun! It's so fun to walk the parade and see everyone so excited - especially little kids.

Sat, March 8th at 11:00 AM
Location: Royal Oak Middle School, 709 N. Washington Ave. Royal Oak, MI 48067 North of 11 mile, west of Main St

We need to be at the Royal Oak Middle School by 11:00 a.m. to line up. (You'll find us because all of the dogs will be together, probably by the fence on the east side.) Note: You will have to find parking in the area.

We will have a couple lassies to carry the banner in front (they're young, so the pace will not be fast).  We will repeat this, but we would like the smallest dogs in front, and the largest dogs in back as we march.  It's really more of a stroll, but please try to space yourselves appropriately.  Have poop bags in your pockets too please!

The parade is scheduled to start at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 8, 2014. The parade route will start at Royal Oak Middle School (on Washington, north of 11 Mile, formerly Dondero HS) and proceed south on Washington Ave, turning west on Seventh Street and ending at Lafayette. Total parade length 0.7 mi. This year's parade will include approximately 35 parade units and 500 participants! Note that this parade route is not that long for anyone concerned about being able to walk it.

We are allowed to hand out items (note NOT THROW).    If you would like to hand anything to parade watchers, please bring it with you.

Please Note: Due to safety concerns – NO candy is to be distributed during the parade .

My dog misbehaved while trying to walk there so we left. Have fun.

Well both times I was multi-tasking (helping someone with directions the first and trying to figure out where the school was on my phone the second). Both times a dog walked up and she barked at the dog. A lot . She's fine around dogs she knows or if it's at a home but get her outside in the unknown, she barks quite a bit.
