This group is open to people of all faiths, non-faiths and anti-faiths. By attending you are not claiming to follow Jesus or be a “Christian."
There are a growing number of us who see following Jesus as a spiritual pursuit apart from religion. It is our intention to find out what Christ looks like in our setting.
This is a group aimed at asking tough questions about what following Christ really looks like and what it is like to live his life in Chicago. This discussion group is intended to explore the purposes of spirituality and the example of Jesus. Sometimes we will look at different parts of Jesus' life, other times we will meet with no agenda simply to eat a meal or get to know one another. We may also have movie nights.
This is not a religious endeavor; no one is going to be preaching, this is not about Heaven and Hell and it is not about rituals and laws. We do not want your money, we just want to explore the life of Jesus and talk about what it means to claim to follow him in 21st century Chicago.
Lets talk about how Jesus treated the religious and cultural traditions of his day. How did he handle existent traditions and did he found any of his own? We will meet at Starbucks in Lincoln Park becuase it is close to the train and has decent parking. Let me know if you have a better idea for where to meet. Please RSVP 'Yes' if you plan to come and be sure to change your RSVP to 'No' if you become unable to make it. Read more
