TMA members from Sydney will be assembling a small team of activists on the 27th. There will be members from Agmates, We Are Change, and Sydney Truth Action Collective, and the Climate Skeptics attending.

Lord Monckton in Sydney + Peter Spencer inspired demonstration.

January 27 - Sydney $20 5.30pm Grand Ballroom, The Sheraton on the Park Elizabeth Street.

The main Lord Monckton presentation in Sydney will be at 5.30pm on Wednesday 27 January 2010 in the Grand Ballroom of The Sheraton on The Park introduced by Professor Ian Plimer with a Q&A session after the presentation. Admission is by $20 donation at the door after registration required by Sheraton regulation for event attendees.
We have arranged for auditorium seating to accommodate 800 people, but suggest you arrive early. - Event Manager

This is the plan.

- Meet at 1pm at the Star Bar Hotel. Check back on the day to be sure of the meetup time. We will assemble here and then select a place to begin and finally end up at the Sheraton.

- At the location chosen we will hand out our STAC climate change statement (draft found in Minutes of previous meeting, let me know if you haven't seen it yet), together with the remaining chosen print material, while engaging in discussion and debate (whilst waiting for everyone to arrive and get ready to roll).

- Proceed (March) to the venue and assemble a small stand or choose a location to work from. Our shirts and a few posters will help attract attention. We should have a small crowd starting to assemble ready from Monckton's event. Stree action and interviews untill the event. Bull Horn will be available.

What I need is volunteers.
1. To design a poster or two. Arrange for printing. Cost will be covered by sale of shirts (provided they sell, how is my design? :)
2. To help choose the remaining print material (flyers) to use and organise printing quote.
3. To develope 'sound bites',and argument points for use on the day.
4. To be the 'film crew'. I am trying to pre-arange an interview with Monckton (looks like he is keen).
5. To bring or source a small suitable portable table or tressal for use on the day.
6. Everyone to educate themselves on climate change science and public opinion on the issue so that we form a coherent, organised mob on the day and not a bunch of confused activists. :)

Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, Christopher Lord Monckton has agreed to come on a lecture tour in Australia in late January 2010. Professor Ian Plimer will accompany Christopher Monckton on a whirlwind tour of the mainland capital cities starting in Sydney on January 26th and finishing in Perth on February 8th. Unfortunately we cannot fit in Tasmania and the Northern Territory. Lady Juliet Monckton will come as well, in part to monitor Lord Monckton’s health.

Prof. Plimer says the following of Lord Monckton: “although I modestly state that I am a good performer, he is superb and I have seen him fielding a very hostile BBC and other networks. He has the ability to change thinking……”.

Given the now generally- acknowledged lack of understanding among the Australian general public of the underlying reasons for a “Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme” and the likely effects thereof, it is critical that the public gets a chance to hear a globally-recognised presenter to explain the rational understanding of the whole issue. Lord Monckton is the ideal person to carry out this task and to also put it to the mass media.
