April 2014 General Meeting

Exploring the mystery of PVC Pipe, Fittings and Pumps in Aquaponics

An exploration of the mysteries and magic of PVC pipe from selection to gluing (or not!!) to sizing and determining head loss! Fittings: so many to choose from and colors from white to black to gray! And finally pumps: how to selected the right one for the job and then what do you do with it?????

This magical mystery tour lead by Dr. James Ebeling, who has glued and cut out so many, many fittings and pipes that he has become incredibly experienced on how not to do it and thus can be truthfully called an “expert in this field”!

I mentioned this at the meeting and was asked to post. It is a color coded chart that shows how well plants (like people) can live close together. It is a simple Red Yellow and Green chart. Hope it helps...

Learned more about AQ in class, but considering amount of people present it was understandable. Have a safe trip Casey, see ya when you get back.

I'm sorry that something came up and I couldn't make the meeting. In case the members don't know, I want to tell you that Casey was presented with the CEAC Mission Award at the 2014 Greenhouse Short Course for his leadership, passion and efforts with the Tucson Aquaponics Project.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
