1st session – “Painterly in a Pinch”
Painterly in a Pinch
By Capri Boyle Jones, fiber artist
Painterly in a Pinch is a workshop to develop skill in the art style of impressionism. Observations of light and color will guide our decisions as we utilize a variety of wools and/or other fibers to achieve the essence of an idea. Light has a valuable function. The focus is on use of color.
Many designs can be considered appropriate to execute in this style. The techniques implemented in Painterly in a Pinch may be applied with limited to extreme use of color and light. Fibers that may be labeled as ugly or require over dyeing often incorporate easily with this concept. Leftovers from other projects are also a favorite addition. Any size cut and varieties of cut may be utilized.
Painterly in a Pinch is a focused study. Participants will begin with four home study assignments prior to class which contemplate light and color via observation activities. Class will expound these concepts to broaden color planning and development practices. Participants will receive guidance with design selection prior to class.
