Body Love Support Group

  • May 15, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This group is for people who want to foster in themselves a healthy body image and a healthy relationship with food. There is no religion, no workbook, no steps, only people helping people to be their best selves in a compassionate, open minded environment. You can identify as a person with body dysmorphia or an eating disorder, but it is not necessary to benefit from this support group. Many people have a complicated relationship with food and body image, and as long as you wish to move forward, and help others do the same, this group is for you. The Body Love Support Group is open to adults of both genders, and is open to the public. We will start with once a month on the third Wednesday and make decisions based on time, location and frequency as we evolve.

For the next several meetings, we will be meeting in the meeting room inside the Children's room at the main public library.  Everything is subject to change, so check in from time to time.

If you have any questions, comments or concern, do not hesitate to contact me.

I enjoyed my first meeting with this group; albeit, I arrived nearly an hour late. I was grateful that people were willing to stay and keep the meeting going to accommodate me. What can I say about that except; that's what a good support group does. This group, although young and just getting started (tonight was only the second meeting), has great potential to be an excellent resource for people struggling with body image and eating issues and seeking recovery and support in a non-religious and/or non-spiritual atmosphere. I recommend the group to anyone with these issues.

I was hoping to attend, but will have out-of-town friends visiting then.

Nancy! Much needed group you are starting here. Unfortunately, I can't make Wednesday nights. Will be able to over the summer, though. Look forward to then.
