Once again I have a conflict, so Steve has kindly agreed to host (again). The movie will be The Ledge (2011), starring Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Patrick Wilson and Terrence Howard. It's a drama/thriller written and directed by Matthew Chapman. Chapman is the author of "40 Days and 40 Nights – Darwin, Intelligent Design, God, OxyContin, and Other Oddities on Trial in Pennsylvania" and the great-great grandson of Charles Darwin.
After embarking on a passionate affair with his evangelical neighbor's wife (Tyler), Gavin (Sons of Anarchy's Hunnam) soon finds himself in a battle of wills that will have life or death consequences. As a nonbeliever, Gavin is lured by his lover's husband (Insidious's Wilson) to the ledge of a high rise and told he has one hour to make a choice between his life or the one he loves. Without faith in an afterlife, will he be able to make a decision? It's up to police officer Hollis (Howard) to save both their lives, but the clock is ticking in this edge-of-your-seat film that will leave you gasping until the final frame.
After the movie, we usually have a discussion in the theater and maybe head over to the Epic Cafe (745 N 4th St, at University) to talk about the movie and anything else we feel like.
The Sahara Apartments are on Stone a block and a half south of Speedway, on the west side. There is plenty of parking right there (ignore the warning signs). Note that the theater is through a locked security gate. Someone from our group will be waiting inside the gate to buzz everyone in, but you must be there by 6:30 as that's when the movie will start. I recommend that you arrive a few minutes early!
