Tucson Atheists Monthly Movie Night

  • September 26, 2011 · 6:30 PM
  • Sahara Appartments

America's 50-million strong Evangelical community is convinced that the world's future is foretold in Biblical prophecy - from the Rapture to the Battle of Armageddon. This astonishing documentary explores their world - in their homes, at conferences, and on a wide-ranging tour of Israel. By interweaving Christian, Zionist, Jewish and critical perspectives along with telling archival materials, the filmmakers probe the politically powerful - and potentially explosive - alliance between Evangelical Christians and Israel...an alliance that may set the stage for what one prominent Evangelical leader calls "World War III."

It's a good idea to arrive a bit earlier than 6:30 because we all disappear into the theater. In the future, I might hang a temporary sign with one of our cell phones so late comers can get in but it's still a good idea to arrive early.

We had a little trouble getting going but eventually, we figured out the system and started the movie. Folks really want to believe in some weird stuff.

The Sahara Apartments is gated. Just before 6:30 PM, we meet at the gate. One of the Tucson Atheists will be there, at the gate, to let people in. The theater is not visible from the road. Park in the parking lot in front of the gate. Ignore the threatening signs.

Is the theater in plain sight? Can someone give more specific directions?

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
