Tucson Atheists Monthly Movie Night

This month's movie will be The Wicker Man, made in 1973, starring Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee and the beautiful Britt Ekland. Woodward plays a Scottish policeman sent to an island to investigate a girl's disappearance, and finds that things are not as he expected.

After the movie, we'll head over to the Epic Cafe (745 N 4th St, at University) to talk about the movie and anything else we feel like.

The Sahara Apartments are on Stone a block and a half south of Speedway, on the west side. There is plenty of parking right there. Note that the theater is through a locked security gate. Someone from our group will be waiting inside the gate to buzz everyone in, but you must be there by 6:30 as that's when the movie will start. I recommend that you arrive a few minutes early!

Great. Patrick is a great movie host. It was good to collect at the bar afterwards for beer and snacks.

I absolutely take requests! I've seen both Dogma and The Loved One, they're both great. If anyone has copies of them that would be even better!

I could come up with it. It's one of my faves, too.

Do you take requests? How 'bout 'Dogma' - hilarious (to moi) religious satire. Fun and funny.

I'd attend a weekly showing of "The Loved One" with Jonathan Winters, Rod Steiger, James Coburn, Sir John Gielgud, Milton Berle (imagine!), Liberace, Tab Hunter and Paul Winter. Did I forget Roddy McDowell? Plus the thoroughly atheist screenplay by Evelyn Waugh... I shouldn't put my foot in, being a newbie & all, you're probably all sick of that old flicker. Anyone remember "Beat the Devil", Humphrey Bogart's last effort? As mere cardboard cutout, I have to look up to a man made of wicker.

Having viewed the remake with Nick Cage, I'm not sure I want to see the original. I imagine the ending is the same or similarly shocking in both productions. WOW!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
