Be sure to give the rest of this site a read - there are more atmospheric optical effects that you might imagine!

Thanks for the link. The 22degree moon ring was intersting to see and even more interesting after I ready the background information.

And i tried to convince people that was a ring of ejecta from an exploding moon that would soon descend as flaming fragments into Earth's atmosphere! Hey it was Mayan End-of-the-Word day!

This party was so pleasurable, on so many levels! From the burning Bible to karaoke to wealth and richness of conversations to delicious food and drink! We had a lovely time. It was really a fun and crazy evening. And no actual ending of the world as we know it. Just the song...

Burning a Bible! Whoa, that sounds blasphemous! Well, I'm glad that I was not around for that. ;-)

    • Cymosa

I wasn't a Bible being burned... it was a trick Bible that spat flames when opened!

    Don & Nancy,
thank you so much for hosting this party. I had a wonderful time. And so did my sons. It it so graceful of you to open up your house to such a huge and diverse crowd. And I so much appreciate the troubles you have taken to organize this. This solstice party has been a highlight I will remember until the final rapture.

I'd like to second Regina's comments... it is really an effort to open one's home and organize such a large event, and you seem to do it with some degree of frequency. Cheers to you!

Worth traveling many miles for. Great party, Don. I especially like the floating whale that accented the Karaoke singers. I hope we hear of another 'doomsday scenario' soon--the apocalypse parties are so much fun.

Parking in my neighborhood may become an issue. You can go to Google Earth and put in my address to get a birds eye view. If you can't find a place to park, you can always go to the Safeway parking lot on Nexus, call me, and someone will come get you. It's a short walk from there. Here is a picture of my neighborhood with suggested parking areas marked: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1508458...

Can we bring our three year old?

    December 18

    • Don Lacey

I'm sorry Catherine. The party is not child friendly and too crowded for the wee ones.

Plus...some of the atheists do like to try to live up to the whole "baby eating" stereotype.
