I was raised Christian and began questioning my faith in college. Viewing Christianity and other religions as social institutions opened the door and allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and start thinking of religion in terms of philosophy, biology, physics, etc., which I had done a good job of avoiding up until that point. It's been a long process, and I still have trouble using the A-word, but that's essentially what I've been for a while now.
I'm a graduate student at the University of Arizona. I've been in Tucson about a year now and I'm looking forward to meeting some open-minded people outside the sociology department.
