Hi Regina:
I sent you a lengthy email regarding both this event and your supportive suggestion that I take over this group at 4:52PM on May 10th - two days ago. Sorry you didn't receive it, but hopefully you have by now. I will not be attending due to financial reasons. It is not just the price of the ticket, but the cost of gas for me to attend is prohibitive. Enjoy and if you are a mother, Happy Mother's Day. Very best to you.
looks like my last chance to see "all in the timing" on 5/12, 2:30PM, is a "go."
i too hope we shall get together in the near future, regina ~ perhaps for an Auf Wiedersehen beverage or something??
[can't seem to post my "reply" to the manon page just now for some reason.]
Thanks Regina! My wife and I are/were looking forward to the next Meetup. However, May 18th might not work for us because the in-laws are in town and we may not be able to get away, we'll see...
Since my Significant Other plays principal second violin in the opera orchestra (this is how we met), I'm usually at the Tucson performances as well. So I could certainly help you with hosting the first couple of times, and probably talk a musician or singer or two into joining the group if you did something afterwards. This might better be pursued by regular email: [masked] Let's continue the conversation!
(Limited to 500 characters here...) We have had a few (under 10, I suspect) members from Tucson, including at least one who came up a couple of times for Phoenix events and who begged us to have a "road trip" to an event down her way. If we shared events, you might post something up here like the MONC auditions. I have offered some of the Met simulcasts here; that would be perfect to replicate (with fewer theater choices, a real plus) in Tucson. I might be able to do a season preview...
Hi, Regina: An interesting thought. My first response is that two groups might be better. It's all I can do to coordinate the events in Phoenix, and if we both had groups, we could share information about Meetups. I would be happy to post anything you would schedule...perh
aps you could do it yourself by my appointing you a Co-Organizer in our group--that way, you could post things on your own to the list of events. There's a cost to hosting a Meetup, running $144 per year. See my next post:
Hi, Regina, and welcome to Arizona Opera Meetup! I hope to greet you personally at one of our upcoming opera-related events. Would you be interested if we scheduled a LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR meetup in Tucson (for the Saturday night performance on October 20? Let me know... Also, please don't forget to go online and pay your $5 membership dues. Thanks.
