Announcing a new Meetup for Tucson Atheists!

What: Saturday Evening Hike in Sabino Canyon

When: Saturday, September 18,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Sabino Canyon Visitor Center
5700 N Sabino Canyon Road
Tucson, AZ 85750

Summer is coming to an end, so let's get out and do some light hiking before all the wildlife disappears! We'll be taking the tram road, and plan on going to the end. This is a 7.4 mile round trip hike, but I like to be democratic about it, so we can decide to stop early. This is a paved road, but we do see some of the desert wildlife, including rattlesnakes, so please make sure you have a good flashlight. This is a really great chance to see some of Tucson's magnificent wildlife, including snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, gila monsters, ringtail cats, deer and more! For a sample of the kind of wildlife you *may* see, check out my flickr: (warning - creepy bug pictures included!)

There's a nice little restaurant just up the street that I like to stop in at after a hike for a drink and a bite of food and everyone is welcome to come to this as well.

We'll meet at the ramada (the covered structure, not the Ramada Inn!) in front of the Sabino Canyon Visitor's Center at 6:30, do a quick round of introductions and start hiking shortly thereafter.

Please make sure you bring:
* a good flashlight.
* plenty of water
* a camera, as there is always amazing wildlife to see.
* something to snack on
* money for parking and food after the hike if you're joining us at Risky Business.

A parking pass is $5 for the day, or $20 for an annual pass (an extremely good investment). If anyone needs to carpool, please mention so in your RSVP and hopefully we can find someone to help out.

I'll do my best to keep this a safe hike, but do remember that you are hiking at your own risk. I've been hiking all summer at night and haven't had any dangerous encounters.

Hope to see you then!
