Tucson Atheists Message Board › Science vs. Superstition at UofA Monday 2/4
BioLogos named Professor Schloss as their new Senior Scholar last month. I'm guessing that he'll be presenting the god-of-the-gaps argument that goes something like this: "The science of evolution cannot explain why humans have a moral instinct, therefore god-did-it." If you are not familiar with BioLogos, Jerry Coyne has written about them extensively at Why Evolution Is True. He is not a fan.
This event has the Templeton Foundation's stink all over it. Professor Schloss is on the twelve-member Board of Trustees, and he is named as a participant in grants totaling $20M ($8.2M, $10.5M, $0.2M, and $0.9M). Templeton also helps fund The Veritas Forum, and they pour millions and millions into BioLogos.
"Love Thy Neighbor? Biology, Altruism, and Why We Do Good"
"A Dialogue of Two Perspectives Featuring: Dr. Jeff Schloss (Westmont College) and Dr. Anna Dornhaus (University of Arizona)"
Monday, February 4, 2013 at 7:00 PM
Crowder Hall (in the School of Music)
"Join academic experts Dr. Jeff Schloss and Dr. Anna Dornhaus for an intellectual discussion about love, biology, and how God fits into it all. Each speaker will bring a different perspective to the conversation.
"We are anticipating a full house at Crowder Hall for Professors Schloss and Dornhaus' discussion! Student ID holders will be given priority seating so that UA students have the first opportunity to see The Forum.
"Extended Q&A following the dialogue with both speakers. Reception with refreshments served.
Presented by The Veritas Forum at UA.
