My comments:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The crusades were a
bad idea 1000 years ago, and they're a bad idea now.

Yes, we could say that Islam is perhaps lately the religion that
seems to spur on comparatively more initiation of violence and
violent thinking, and maybe, parsing religions, some of us would
say that it is even inherently a bit more irrational with
respect to seemingly encouraging violence against non-believers,
but to me it is a matter of parsing philosophies that are nearly
equally primitive.

They're *all* primitive, in my view, not only in the particulars
of their mythologies, but also (and perhaps most importantly) in
their moral and ethical teachings. This includes, particularly,
Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Certainly there appear to be
matters of degree, but at the end of the day, I think
the label of moral, ethical, cosmological and other
philosophic primitivism holds for these religions.

I don't think these primitive religions should be allowed to
give philosophy itself a bad name. They are primitive botched
philosophies... a first effort, in some cases worthy, in some
cases very much NOT worthy, and so we should be seeking out
better philosophy(ies), not hanging on to the bad ones.

But isn't it great .... just absolutely fantastic, to see people
still arguing, and killing each other, in part over whose
imaginary God is real, powerful and gives "the" true moral
guidance?
