US Evangelists Setting Policy in Kenya

A democratic vote is occurring in Kenya for a new constitution. US evangelists are encouraging (paying for a smear compaign) Kenyans not to vote "yes" for the document because it contains provisions they feel are against Christian bias. Huh??? Do these people control those in another country, perhaps with financial aid that allows them as an independent agent from our pluralized government to go out and dictate policy to others. I guess if it isn't working at home, combine the state of another government with your own version of God. The battle is over the what will be access to abortion in a country being crushed by healthcare costs, abandoned children, struggling with children born to rape.

American evangelical groups are still up in arms, funding the opposition to the constitution here and even setting up websites targeting pro-choice Kenyan leaders. Meanwhile, thousands of Kenyan women die each year in secret, poorly performed operations. “What’s really problematic is how much funding is coming in from right-wing Americans in order to control women’s bodies even more than they’re already controlled,” Zawadi told me later.

Comments anyone? Insights? Enlightenment? Differnces in point-of-view? Help me out here. They have already on their own, gone into Haiti and taken children for adoption after the earthquake, ignored the local laws and transported the children to the US. My take on it is a bunch of loose cannons. Then there is Tony Alamo - in his own separate reality - setting up trafficking and rape within his Ministry. He did go prison and will never see freedom again.
