Let’s show our BRITISH PRIDE in the Old Pueblo!
Whether you’re married to a Yank, attending university or just working in the Old Pueblo – let’s not lose our BRITISH CULTURE of lovely cup of tea, football, pints and of course, fish and chips.
TUCSON BRITISH EXPATS was founded June 2012 after my husband and I noticed the amount of cars showing their BRITISH PRIDE, and the numerous Brits we have meet over the last 5 years in Tucson.
This is a Kid Friendly group, so unless otherwise stated in meetup details, children are welcome.
We tried to create a group via Facebook called Brits in Tucson when he first moved to the States in 2007. Unfortunately, it became a place where all who loved British came; instead of whom are British. Even though these countries, USA and UK are similar, culture wise it is very different indeed.
Tucson has needed a local social club to bring Brits together in the Old Pueblo. We realize the crisps, chips and, of course beer will not be the same but hopefully we can make it feel a little bit like home with the good company with others from across the pond.
The purpose of the TUCSON BRITISH EXPAT is to create a great home away from home and expose the future generations to their British roots, too. We have realized this more as we raise our daughter in a home with two different cultures.
Annual Membership dues are $10.00 per adult member (not including spouse) and memberships run one-year from payment date. Children under 17 years old and younger are included in dues.
PAYABLE AT FIRST MEETUP ATTENDED BY CURRENT ACTIVE MEMBERS. (Or contact the organizers to send payment via snail mail. Cash accepted only at MEETUPS. Money Orders only via snail mail.)
New members are allowed one trial meetup event and memberships are due at the next meetup attended.
What do the dues cover? You will receive a reusable name badge and an official Tucson British Expat Sticker. Additionally, the dues will cover the cost to run the MEETUP.com website ($144 annual fee), annual supplies for the group and meetup events. Any additional Annual Membership monies left over at the end of the year will be put towards the Annual Holiday Function. The dues will not cover additional per head costs, for example, costs accrued renting space at public businesses, local parks or non-potluck MEETUPS.
The goal of the TUCSON BRITISH EXPAT group is to meet at least a once month in Tucson and surrounding areas. We meet at local pubs, restaurants, members’ homes and maybe a road trip, too. Please spread the word to any others Brits in the Old Pueblo. We depend on word of mouth!
