I am an artist, wife and mother of two daughters. Raised in a military Air Force family, I grew up in Japan and America and have a love for both cultures. I enjoy singing, painting, origami and cooking and making new friends.
Through this Meetup Group, I wanted to create a vehicle to connect people in the Tucson area who are interested in Japanese culture and origami.
I have been an organizer of Japanese cultural activites for 30 years. We partner with schools, the Tucson Tucson Children's Museum Japanese New Celebration & Pan Asian Community Alliance, Pima College Japanese Speech Contest & Tucson Meet Yourself.
I am open to the ideas of group members. We will have joint monthly meetings with the Tucson Origami Club.

The Tucson Origam Club folded many paper cranes - an internationally recognized symbol of peace and goodwill - for the families of Newtown, CT. Members, friends (and even restaurant patrons) donated their winged creations to the peace project coordinated by the Pima County Libraries in partnership with the Tucson Childrens' Museum. Big cranes, small cranes, tiny ones too, Families of Newtown these birds are for you. Our thoughts and our prayers on these wings to you fly, From our hearts to your hearts a soft lullabye.
Greetings, M. Craig,
My husband and I are having our annual New Year's Day brunch and we always like to do something special.
This year, we would like to have someone give us a small sushi demonstration and then make sushi for our guests (11:00 a.m. -1p.m.). Are there any people you know who might be interested (at a reasonable rate)? They would be in charge of supplying fish, rice and whatever is required for a 20-person group. We will be serving other food as well.
Thank you! I look forward to meeting everyone!
Yes Hi I raised my boys there so their childhood memries are full of onsens, origami and festivals and taiko etc!
Hi M. The Arizona Origami Society meets once a month on the second Saturday of the month at Bookman's located on 19th Avenue and Northern. All is well and hope you are too. doris
Hello Mrs. Craig,
That sounds wonderful. I am sincerely looking forward to meeting you all at at the next meet-up. I am going to start the Pimsleur Method Japanese study course (hopefully before I go to sleep tonight!), to get used to just hearing the language. I would love to do a missions trip to Japan as I like to think that I understand them a bit, and besides sharing the Gospel, being in the very quiet, especially rural, Japan is about one of my favorite things to do! Will show up soon.
Thanks, I've considered that. Does anyone from your club attend that service so that we know someone if we go? Not necessary, but nice if possible.
Hello Mrs. Craig,
I am not new to Tucson, but my wife Hiromi is new. She came from Japan a year ago and is been trying to meet new people. I am trying to help her join new groups so she can make new friends. Glad I met this one. Thanks for the greeting.
Thanks! I lived in Misawa, near Aomori. I'm lreally ooking forward to meeting other group members :D
