Recommendation from a friend.
Canon XSi and S95.
I'm interested in how variables like shutter speed can be used practically for different effects. For ex: stopping action in a fidgety 4yr old, letting some movement like running water or flapping humming bird wings create motion blur.
I’m a computer geek who has used digital cameras since the Apple QuickTake and Sony Mavica. I upgraded to a DSLR a couple months ago and want to learn more about how to use it to take better photos of my young daughter and the world around us. :-)
For a first timer, it was all new, so I'll wait for a while to get the lay of the land before making suggestions. For example, has the "mentor hour" always come before the main meeting as a sort of warmup?
