What do you want to see happen in this meet up group?

I'd love to see different kinds of gatherings happen (ranging fro tea parties to social gatherings/outings) as well as participate in get togethers (still kicking myself for missing wild wild west). Also I know my wife has been very interested in filming video shorts something along the lines of the league of steam. I know from a esthetic point of view my tinker/gadgeteer side would love to meet other folks and meet interesting people and persona's (I know the wife's itching to use her degree in costuming to make more then a few Victorian costumes!)

What is Steampunk to you?

Steam punks a strange amalgamation of Victorian/Neo-Victorian and the unimaginable spawned by emerging technologies and discoveries in foreign and exotic lands. Fiction like Wild wild west and Julies Vern (the TV show as well as the amazing fantasy writings <and predictions>). Steam punk combines the freedom of taking an (air)shipto a strange and unknown exotic place or time with the comfort of a simpler (but no less complicated) time. Steam punks a form of expression and awakening of a creative spark that the current cookie cutter culture as muted and stymied in a disposable world, rather then a world were thing were reused and reengineered to do other (sometimes over complicated) things. The mating of Q from James bond and Nemo form 20,000 leagues under the sea how can magic not happen!

Hi! Names Jim, I'm a resource coordinator/scheduler and part time pyrotechnician. I enjoy reading Sci-fi & classical fiction, watching fantastic fiction shows and movies (and often just the fun campy ones too!).
