Hi everyone! This Tuesday let's watch SILVERS LINING PLAYBOOK, a quirky new comedy about a man with mental illness struggling to rebuild his life. This film is running 90% on rottentomatoes.com. The Globe and Mail says it's "a neurotic ode to family dysfunction and accepting the universal screwup in all of us, which is to say it's maybe the most heartwarming movie you'll ever see about bipolarity". Roger Ebert writes that it "is so good, it could almost be a terrific old classic". So, please come see it with us!
SHOWTIME: 7:20 pm on Tuesday December 11 at the Varsity Cinema. (movie length = 2h00m)
MEETING TIME: 6:50-7:00pm
MEETING LOCATION: At the Varsity Cinema, just past the ticket-takers, by the customer service desk. Look for tall hairy Jeff with a yellow MEETUP sign.
TICKETS: This movie costs just $7.99 (or $7.19 with a Scene card); if you wish then you can purchase your ticket in advance at the Cineplex Varsity web site.
MOVIE INFO AND REVIEWS: See the film's rottentomatoes web page.
AFTER THE MOVIE: Let's all discuss the movie for a few minutes as a group right in the cinema lobby. Then, interested persons are invited to join me for drinks and socialising, probably at the Foxes Den bar at 1075 Bay Street.
I hope to see you there!
FUTURE WEEKS: For Dec 18, I am considering THE HOBBIT, though it might be very crowded. Other possibilities include ANNA KARENINA, FLIGHT, A LATE QUARTET, WRECK-IT RALPH, and HITCHCOCK; comments welcome! Then, on Dec 25 and Jan 1, I will probably *NOT* host meetups due to the holidays, though if anyone wants to guest-host then let me know. And looking ahead a bit, I am considering having a movie meetup annual PARTY at a local pub on January 22 -- interested?
Best wishes, Jeff
