Tuesday Spirit Hikes
Are you spiritual and find that in nature you can connect with that side of yourself? Do you feel closer to God, Spirit, the Universe, or whatever name you have for that ineffable something, when you’re surrounded by nature? Does the shaman(esse) within you just want to touch your feet to the ground, stick your nose into the foliage, breathe in and say ahhh? If so, then you may really enjoy being a part of our community, make friends and enjoy the green and lush Northwest trails.
We like to begin our hikes with a moment of coming together in spiritual awareness. Some might call it a meditation or a prayer and/or an invocation. But we don't hew to a religion or specific spiritual practice.
Does this beautiful country call to you and you want to hike it but not too fast or far? Do you have a child you want to bring along? Our up to 5 mile hikes are designed for people who are beginning to get back in shape (that’s me); who are in the end phase of recovering from an injury or illness and want to take it a little slower for the time being; who are older and, admittedly slower, but not dead, yet, as the saying goes; or who want to bring a younger child. Whatever your reasons for wanting to take it a little more slowly, our hikes might be for you.
Our hikes are not for people who really can’t exert themselves. Even with mild elevations, your heart will get pumping and your lungs will be working and your quads may get the occasional burn. But we do take breaks after steeper stretches (I gotta catch my breath :-). Good examples of the kinds of hikes we like to take are Denny Creek hike and Old Robe Trail. Feel free to join us and blossom in an atmosphere sacredness and of enjoyment and appreciation of each other and the great Northwest.
On trails that are over 5- 6 miles, we turn back at the half-way point for a total of 5-6 miles, in and out.
We hike on 1 Tuesday a month. Other members can schedule hikes on different days during the month upon prior approval.
