Turbine Talkers meet every other Tuesday night to revel in sheer joy (yes joy!) of public speaking. New members are always welcome.
On Tuesday 25 Feb we will be holding our Club level Evaluation and International Prepared Speech Contest during which members will compete for a spot at the Area level contests. Winners of the Area contest then have the opportunity to complete at the Division level with these winners moving on to the District level contest which sees Toastmasters from all over New Zealand competing.
The winner of the District International Speech contest represents New Zealand at the Toastmasters International Annual Conference usually in the United States competing for the title of "World Champion of Public Speaking".
While this meeting will be formatted slightly different from our regular club meetings guests are still welcome to attend. The contest should prove to be an entertaining evening with some talented speakers lined up to compete!
If you’re curious and want to find out more - or skeptical of the claim that public speaking can actually be fun - drop in to our next meeting. We'd love to prove you wrong!
Guests are encouraged to arrive at 7:20 p.m. This is so we can get you a name tag and set you up with a buddy who will explain the format of the meeting and answer any questions you might have. At the end of the meeting you will then be given a guest pack containing a new member sign up form and a free copy of the Toastmasters Magazine.
