Join us for a meetup featuring David Weekly, founder of Hacker Dojo, Super Happy Dev House, and PBworks. David will discuss what he’s learned about innovation through his years of founding companies, throwing “nerd parties”, and his current work at Facebook as a Developer Advocate.
David is a nerd who likes people. He started programming at five and after doing research at Harvard Physics and MIT Lincoln Labs, came out west for a CS major at Stanford during the first dot-com bubble, where he did not make millions but did learn how to tango and also wrote the first layman's description of MP3 and reverse engineered the Napster protocol. After working for large companies, small companies, and consulting, he founded PBwiki (now PBworks), the world's first private wiki host, home to over two million groups. He also founded the first non-profit colocation project, the nerd party series SuperHappyDevHouse, and the world's largest hackerspace: Hacker Dojo, as well as the first Silicon Valley style seed program in Mexico. David's last company was acqui hired by Facebook, where he now works to make the Facebook Platform a powerful tool for developers worldwide.
We’ll be hosting the meetup at our brand new HQ on the third floor of 645 Harrison. The meetup will kick off at 6:30. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
We’ll see you there!
