Call me if you have any questions about this weekend.

Jeff H.

I am setting up a weekend in Lanesboro MN. This will be an a-la-carte event. Most of us will be camping at the Old Barn Resort www.barnresort.com/. Besides camping they have rooms for rent. Their are also Bed and Breakfast and hotels in the Lanesboro area.

During the day we can split up into small groups based on the activity we enjoy.
In the evening we will all meet at the campground for campfire foolishness.

If you are unfamiliar with Lanesboro see youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7-0bC3dLiE

This is a-la-carte event you will need to contact the campground to reserve your spot or contact one of the B&B's or hotels.

I will be going down Friday afternoon to set up camp. If anyone can take off Friday they are welcome to ride down with me. I have a pop up camper and have room for 3 more campers.

The Campground is located 5 miles from Lanesboro MN. Lanesboro is the heart of the amazing bike trails of the root river trail system.

Lets take advantage of the "Post a Comment" section of our web service to network among ourselves to set up carpooling, sharing camp spots, day trips, T times, extra.

Amazing! Early birds braved a storm camping out on Fri in true adventure spirit; headed for antiquing, chilling out, mystery caves, everyone pulled together a fantastic BBQ, enjoyed the spectacular fireworks, rocking live band/street dancing on Main Street on Sat; and ended with swimming, tubing, biking, golfing, enjoyed the parade and all activities we set out to seek on a brilliant Sunday! Did not let lack of wireless coverage daunt us. Way to go, Twin Cities Adventure Seekers!!! Please post your pics to share...

It's too bad we didn't know about the lack of cell reception prior to our arrival. It made it challenging to meet up with one another.

Decided to get out of town at the last minute and stumbled across this! If anyone is looking to ride share (crew cab truck, plenty of space for bikes/gear) or camp spot share (or if you have space for a truck on your space, happy to pay my way in food/drink) drop me a line! Can head down anytime Friday after 1PM, open to whatever return time Sunday.

Many of us may be splitting off into different activities so a group dinner Saturday at the campsite sounds great! I have the day off on Friday so I plan on trying to be there by noon. I'd really like to get in some time kayaking, golfing (maybe a scramble?), fishing, and a trip to the local winery (maybe Friday afternoon). I am in no hurry to rush home on Sunday so I have the day to enjoy activities. Probably will work in the local festivities between things. If anyone is interested in any of those activities - let me know. It would be nice to have a tentative plan.

Anyone have Fri. off? I'm mulling the idea of taking the $56, 7:50am Amtrak to La Crosse, then biking there, it's only 60 miles, 2/3 on the root river trail.

I took some pre-made frozen entrees with me http://www.macaronigrillathome.com/products/frozen/ I didn't worry about keeping them frozen but just cold. I would simply throw the meal in a pan and warm it up on the stove. You can pick up this type at any grocery store and if you have a Sam's or Cosco membership they are farley reasonable. Brats and burgers are always a camping staple.

Tiffanie I will have 2 small gas grills and my camper has a stove and I have a cook kit that is open for anyone to use. Saturday I think most people will be going to the street dance and will have dinner in town. For Breakfasts I am planning on just scrambling a couple of eggs, Yogurt and granola is a good option for light breakfast. I just got back from a camping trip on my cycle so space was at a premium.

This is a link to the Buffalo Bills Day's flyer. I don't know if the Amish will be giving rides to the campground. There is a phone number on the flier for information about the Amish rides. I will be riding my bike to the street dance and suggest if you plan on riding your bike to the dance you invest in a head light for your bike. Oh and remember it's an uphill ride form Lanesboro to the campground.

The Bike path runs right by the camp sight so we can enjoy our time at the street dance and ride bikes home. I did the High Ropes at the nature center a few years ago. If this is the same place everyone is talking about we won't miss much. The program is set up for middle school kids. We can look at a zip line event this fall.

If anyone else wants to stay in the 16 bed hostel room at the Old Barn Resort it is reserved under my name. So you will have to tell them that when you call. Beth Rasmussen
