Announcing a new Meetup for Twin Cities Atheists!

What: MN FIRST Regional Robotics Competition Finals - U of MN Apr 3 1:15 p.m.

When: Saturday, April 3,[masked]:15 PM

Williams Arena
1925 University Avenue SE
Minneapolis, MN 55455

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in a series of competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Woodie Flowers, and a committee of engineers and other professionals.

This year, robots will be playing a game called Breakaway. To see a video of the game, go here:

The competition is well suited to spectators and these kids put as much fun into the competition as they can, including teams that perform custom cheers and even have mascots. We will meet in the lobby of Williams Arena and scope out the best events to attend in the afternoon. Two venues are hosting competitions, so we'll decide as a group which competitions to see.

The schedule of events for the full day are below:

8:00AM: Pits and Machine Shop Open
8:45AM: Opening Ceremonies
9:15AM-12:30PM: Seeding Matches
12:30AM-12:45PM: Alliance Selections for Final Rounds
12:45PM-1:45PM: Lunch Break
1:45PM-4:45PM: Final Rounds
5:00PM: Awards Ceremony
6:30PM: Pits and Machine Shop close, All crates packed for shipping

I hope to see you there!
