Community Lab Hours

May's Community Lab Hours will take place on the 5th Wednesday -- May 29th -- as many TC Drupalers will be in Portland for Drupalcon on the 22nd.

Join us for our Community Lab Hours session every 4th Wednesday from 5-7PM at Intermedia Arts -- right before the TC Drupal meetup at 7PM.

Advantage Labs customers have been attending Lab Hours to get the most out of Drupal by working on their sites together. It's a great place to get questions answered, but it's also a great way to collaborate and share best practices with your peers. Site builders learn which modules can best serve their needs, site managers learn how to work with views and content types to make progress without outsourcing, and content managers swap tips and tools for fundraising, content strategy, and community management.

We're pleased to announce that we're extending free participation at Lab Hours to the local community one day per month, before our TCDrupal meeting. Attendance is free, but space is limited. Please let us know you're coming by describing what you'll be working on at our Community Lab Hours pad.  We'll post a new event and pad each month.

We look forward to seeing you at upcoming Community Lab Hours sessions!

    I'll be out of town

Okay, I am a newbie. What I want to learn to do (or find the right module) is to create a page that will show 20 different RSS feeds in time created order. These feeds will be from third party sites. I would like something like FlipBoard or Pulse but would settle for something like feedly. My goal is to create 5 of these for titles like Foundations, Minnesota Nonprofits, Technology.
Am I asking to much for a newbie to do?

Hi Ellery! Too much for a newbie to do? I don't think so but it all depends on you. Your use-case is a good one for Community Labs. It has a few layers that bear breaking down -- your capacity and resources, audience identification, overall and specific goals, site context, display preferences -- in order to determine the right solution. Sounds like a lot but, really, a little brainstorming should point you in the right direction.

Hey Ellery, almost forgot -- if you're thinking of coming to talk about this, please add your name along with a sentence or 2 about your idea in the Community Lab Hours Google Doc for 5-29 -- https://docs.google.co...

Hi, Benjamin. Your questions about the theming process are certainly appropriate for Lab Hours. However, it makes more sense to open this up to whoever is participating rather than do a one-on-one. Group input is almost always more valuable. So, let's see who comes and take it from there. Also note that while the main post says Community Lab Hours takes place on the 4th Wednesday, this month it will be the 5th Wednesday, May 29th (due to conflicts with the DrupalCon conference). Thanks!

      Awesome, that's what I meant with 1 on 1.

While I have your attention, if you're thinking of coming to talk about this, could you add your name along with a sentence or 2 about your idea in the Community Lab Hours Google Doc for 5-29? https://docs.google.co...

    I cannot wait :)

I've just posted the Google Doc we'll be using as our Community Lab Hours pad -- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Fbp8xTGuLTslxCpYnxnW88kgD2h9lKiuQWv8f29p5fU/edit. Go ahead and add yourself to the pad if you're thinking of coming. Note your questions or what you'll be working on so we have an idea of how many will be joining us and what people are looking to do.

    Thanks!
