Announcing a new Meetup for Twin Cities Fishing Fanatics!

What: Spring Shore Panfishing- Hyland Lake

When: Sunday, May 2,[masked]:30 PM

Where:
HYLAND LAKE PARK RESERVE
10145 Bush Lake Road
Bloomington, MN 55438
[masked]

Even though the season is still closed for gamefish; spring is one of the best seasons for fishing for bluegills, crappies and perch from shore. We will be kicking off the 2010 fishing season a few days early at Hyland Lake in Bloomington, MN for some fun shore-fishing.

Hyland lake has a good population of both crappies and sunfish, and the fish are active enough to hit both live and artificial baits, such as small tube jigs and panfish spinners.

I will be waiting at 3:30 pm at the beach where they rent pedal boats and row-boats down by the boat ramp. I'll keep the group around that area casting off shore till around 4-4:30 when we will decide where to go from there. There are hiking trails as the park surrounds the entire lake and most of the shoreline is acessable for shore fishing.

We will likely fish till around dusk, which is prime time for crappies. For those interested and left we may go out somewhere quick for food after we are done fishing.
Please be respectable to both your fellow angler and nature. Don't harass the wildlife and if you plan on keeping fish to eat please do so within the legal limit. Due to the fishing pressure on a small lake like Hyland, Catch and release is strongly encouraged. The lake does have Bass in it as well, remember the season is still CLOSED for Bass so I don't want to see anyone taking those away in a bucket!
