Senior Software Engineer – Hadoop

We have an incredible opportunity for a highly skilled, creative senior engineer with a passion for big data tools. Renaissance offers a chance to make a significant impact on the education of millions of students, helping us to translate terabytes of learning information into actionable insight.
We’re looking for experts with Hadoop, Cassandra and NoSQL to join our growing Big Data team.
Every day will bring new and exciting challenges on the job while you:
•Help to code our second generation data warehouse on Cloudera Hadoop
•Design and develop scalable analytic solutions processing massive amounts of real-time data
•Develop complex MapReduce jobs to compute important metrics that are used daily by millions of users
•Work with others on the Big Data team to solve complex computational and analytical problems
How will you know if you’re qualified?
•2+ years of hands-on experience with the Hadoop stack
•A solid team player who sees the benefits of helping the team meet its goals
•Experienced in working in an Agile/Scrum
•Passion for data, insights and analysis
•Extensive knowledge of UNIX/Linux
•Experience with common Big Data technologies such as Cassandra, Hadoop, HBase, Storm, Impala, Kafka, and/or other large-scale distributed systems preferred
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required. Advanced degree in Computer Science preferred
•Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and experience with scalable, distributed systems a plus
