Get together and game!

I'd like to extend a special welcome to all the gamers who have already joined and to those who will be joining soon. This is a great opportunity to meet other people with similar interests and to prepare to keep up with them on the MiiVerse this holiday season.

We will be meeting at the Ramsey County Library in Roseville. I've reserve a board room and it should serve our needs. It's up on the second floor. I'll be bringing a television and a Nintendo Wii along with several games and accessories from my collection(I'll also be bringing some handhelds including my 3DS). You are welcome to bring anything along that you'd like to share with the group. I'd especially encourage everyone to bring their own controllers and handheld systems so we have less chance of getting things mixed up. If you bring a Wii Remote, feel free to save your Mii on it ahead of time so we can transfer it to my system.

I had a great time at The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses! Those of you who were also in attendance may have streetpassed with me. In honor of the amazing fan service they provided, I'll be bringing four GameBoy Advance systems, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, and four copies of Link to the Past/Four Swords along with enough cables to play both with four players. I find that a lot of Nintendo fans have never had the chance to play the Four Swords games with...well...four swords. I'll also be bringing some other standard Nintendo party games like Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the Virtual Console versions of earlier games in those franchises. So if we get our fill of Zelda, we can certainly move on.

The meetup will start at 6pm. I hope that there will be time not only for gaming, but for plenty of socializing and maybe a little show-and-tell from the collectors among us!

It was a good start. The setup was very promising. I'm going to try for something bigger next time.

Meh. I wish it was scheduled later or on a weekend, but can't accommodate everyone's schedule. Not worth it for me to drive that far just to make the last hour. I hope the next one is coming up soon.

One thing I'd like to see everyone being careful with is not getting the things they bring mixed up. I'm going to be stick a tiny piece of post-it note to all of my stuff. Anyone who brings games or hardware may want to employ a similar tactic.

If someone could bring a Retro Duo console that would be awesome, since I am considering buying one. My NES will no longer give me anything but the flashing grey screen of death :( And no, blowing on it, using a q-tip, or moving the cardridge around no longer helps.

Yeah, it's nice to use a wireless remote for the old games. Too bad the virtual console is missing so many of the games though.

Don't worry if you'll be a little late. We'll be sticking around for a while!

I'm definitely interesting in focusing on GameBoy Advance multiplayer game for this first meetup. It was such a chore to find enough systems and chords and copies of the games. That goes for the GameCube/GameBoy Advance linked games too. So I'll be bringing both the Zelda:Four Swords games I mentioned in the description along with enough systems, cables, and game copies for those and Super Mario Advance and Mario Kart: Super Circuit. For those who aren't as curious about these games, I will have plenty of other multiplayer games as well.

I'm very pleased with how many people have already joined the meetup group and given RSVPs for this meetup. We'll have plenty more of these and the next one may involve the Wii U!

I'll be providing the link cables and I can also bring a GameCube with a GameBoy Player. I do have enough copies of Link to the Past/Four Swords, but go ahead and bring your own so your saved game can benefit. I'll be marking my games and hardware so no one gets mixed up.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
