MIGHTYSSIPPI TRAINING

Join us on at Harriet Island in St. Paul to paddle part of the Mightyssippi course. You can paddle what ever distance you feel comfortable with. I have mapped out a 4.7 mile route. We will start by paddling up river then turn around and come back. We will meet at Kelly's landing which will be the finish of the Mightyssippi. Everyone is welcome you do not have to be signed up for the event.

It was Awesome! Good turn out! It was nice to meet so many new people and great start to the weekend. A few highlights where being a lot warmer then I expected, meeting new friendly people, joining all the kayaks together and the delicious sandwiches at the end that Kirsten brought. I'm looking forward to more group paddling adventures.

I'm interested, but don't own a kayak (yet). Is there anyplace near there to rent one? Or do you have to bring your own?

    Holi,

The 2 seat kayak will not be the most important consideration. If you go in the water at this time of the year, Hypothermia will be a real concern. Most 2 seat kayaks are as stable as a kayak can be. We will launch from a protected landing. and barge traffic should not be a issue. If you don't have a wet suit or a dry suit. It would be a good idea to have a change of cloths in a dry bag at the very minimum. All of us have to be responsible for our own skills knowledge and preparations.

Will this course be safe for a 2-seater sea kayak (or would any one recommend against it)?

I would expect about 1.5 hours. You can always do more of less if you want. We should be done around 11:30am.

How many hours of paddling would you expect that to be? More or less...

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
