Spontaneous Weekday Paddlers!

Are you retired or available on weekdays? Would you enjoy getting out occasionally on area lakes for a refreshing jaunt? Seems like the weekends are often rainy and cold, and the nicest days show up during the week. Perhaps those of us with flexible schedules could plan some midweek fun in the sun! I recommend local lakes that are easy to get in and out of- avoiding rush hour traffic if possible. If you are a "spur of the moment" person, and are interested- check this site frequently and feel free to make suggestions! I will wait to see how many folks are interested in this before I set up our first rendezvous! (If interested, please let me know days and hours you might be available, and suggest local lakes you would enjoy going to.)

Spring Special. Now that the 9 Mile Creek/lake ( a serene wild life wonderland) in Bloomington is up and navigable by kayak, it's possible to paddle downstream the 9 Mile creek and then downstream the MN River starting and ending within a 50 foot portage of the same spot; 35W and the MN River. No shuttle required, about an hour and a half paddle. I'll be going tomorrow (Thur) and any day next week if anyone is interested. [masked]

Sunday 18th paddle: I'll be kayaking today ( Fri. 16th) and Sunday late morning early afternoon for about a two hour paddle. MN River @ 35W and up into 9 Mile lake, or Vermillion River @ Empire, or open to another venue (South of downtown) if anyone's interested. Ted (952)[masked]

I'd pick a local lake and take in whatever colors are left along the shoreline.

Sunday is looking to be an exceptionally nice day for mid-October. Would anybody be interested in paddling? I'm suggesting a tour of the central Lake Minnetonka. Put in and take out at Lord Fletcher's. Enjoy some beverages and munchies after. It would be nice to end the year with a paddle on a nice day and some good company & conversation.

10 to 25 mph winds with occasional showers....what you think? Stay close to shore? Maybe no rain at all? Do it on another day...?

    October 7, 2012

They upped it to 30 mph wind gust and rain by 3p. Don't know if it'll be worth it.... I can possibly get out tomorrow or Wed afternoon. Thurs I'm booked. Fri is open at this point. Anyone else have these time slots open?

Karen, u still wanting to go if all is good?

    October 7, 2012

  • Mark

To Yvonne and Len: If you still want to paddle tomorrow, I'd recommend North Arm & Maxwell/Stubbs Bay. Launch from the North Arm boat ramp. A channel connects North Arm and Maxwell Bay. Paddle 'Round North Arm, Thru the channel to Maxwell Bay, Up to Stubbs, back down and thru the Maxwell Bay bridge to Crystal Bay, 'Round the point, and back to the Landing on North Arm. Check out the old Nuremburg homestead from the water side. What a place it must have been back in the day!

    St. Croix Paddle Tommorrow
We're hoping to launch from Interstate Park around 10:00-ish-ly. Those who need to work out transportation back to your vehicle should meet at 9:00. Once we see who and what we have, working out the logistics should be pretty easy. I'm planning on going the longer distance to W. O'Brien. My number is[masked] if you need to reach me.

August 1st 6-9pm Meet at mississipi st. New Brighton.
    Whitewater Short Rec Kayaks!

This is Class 2 Whitewater with the addition of at least 4 places that you need to shore up haul around downed trees. Helmets strongly suggested.

I just ran this last night and scouted everything out. The water was at a 7.8 for water level. Doable in my 8ft Wave Sport Diesel River Runner.
