Is it recommended to rent equipment for the day or is there usually enough equipment to go around? I have never been ice climbing and am unaware of the protocol.

Hey Chris, I think I'm going to try to go up tomorrow. If you can scrounge up boots and crampons, and remember your harness, that's all you'd need.

Can anyone set ropes on some mix climbs above the pond?

    February 26, 2013

    • Matt H.

Then yeah, I can set ropes there. Wanted to be sure since I haven't ever wandered down that way.

I think Carter said the corner one was easiest, minus the start. I'm going to try and make this. Sundays are usually not good but I want to climb that corner one again.

I am interested, but have no ice climbing equipment. I have a regular harness that I use for regular climbing. Can I get equipment there, or how does that work?

You can rent gear at the U of M or VE St Paul.

Yep! Like Mo said, call the U of M Center for Outdoor Adventure, or Vertical Endeavors to rent gear. At a bare minimum you'll want boots and crampons, and if nobody other than me has tools, you'll want a pair of those too.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
