Welcome to Climbing Thursdays! We have climbers of all skill levels in this group, so we've decided to schedule weekly meetups at Vertical Endeavors (VE) for us to meet each other, find climbing partners, and for the new people to take the 1.5hr basic belaying class that starts at 7pm! **When you RSVP to this meetup, please specify if you'll be taking the class - this way we can determine how many climbers will be looking for other partners. Beginners & Non-Certified Belayers: call VE at least a day in advance to sign up for their class (~$30), then arrive at VE by 6:45pm to fit your gear. The next time you come to VE to climb, you can demonstrate your stellar skills to an instructor, and become a certified belayer (this means you're free to climb anywhere in the gym... and that others can count on you to belay them safely - this is a very good thing). HINT: if you have any hesitation as to whether or not you should take this class (perhaps you've climbed before, but it's been a few years and you're not sure you remember how to do the knots) - then just suck it up and take the class. A bunch of us (some of whom have climbed before) took this class a few weeks ago, and we were glad we did - it really boosts your climbing confidence. Certified Belayers: Check out the photos of the folks who've RSVP'd "yes" to the meetup and look for a familiar face in the gym. The staff at VE are getting to know us as regulars, so they'll probably be able to point out some of us to you as well. Our goal for these meetups is to meet really cool people, to get our bodies used to regular climbing, to improve all of our technical skills and confidence, and to prepare for outdoor day/weekend trips. If you have any ideas of trips you'd like to help us plan, please email me. A bunch of us have the meetup logo hanging from our harness so we can recognize each other, so if you don't recognize the faces, check out our bums [;)] Climb On! ~Ariel
***Special notice*** This Thursday climb is the Halloween costume climb special. Please make sure to show up in costume.
