I have a very exciting announcement to share with you about our newest sponsorship deal, something that I have been working on for quite some time and bring to you with great pride.
Vertical Endeavors, both the Minneapolis and St Paul locations, have signed on to offer Meetup Climbers one of two great benefits. There is a catch, however... how does VE know that you are a Meetup Climber? This has long been a sticking point to my negotiations with VE, but I’ve devised a solution and VE is on board with it.
So, first order of business...
Let me introduce to you, the TCRC Meetup Member Benefit Card!
The TCRC Meetup Member Benefit Card is now available to purchase for $5. With this card, you will be able to prove to VE that you are an active member of the TCRC Meetup Group and partake in the special offer they are making available to us. Without this card, you can still be every bit a part of Meetup as you have been, you simply won’t be able to take advantage of the VE offer detailed below.
With that, the second order of business...
Vertical Endeavors special offer to the TCRC Meetup Group
Beginning Thursday, April 12, 2012, Vertical Endeavors’ Minneapolis and St Paul locations will offer one of the following two deals to eligible members of our Meetup group:
1. If you are a Benefit Card carrying TCRC Meetup Member who does not have a membership to VE, you will be eligible to receive $3 off of your daily admission, free harness rental, and free belay device rental (if you are belay certified) every Thursday night at either location. Thursday has been our longest standing TCRC Meetup night.
2. If you are a Benefit Card carrying TCRC Meetup Member who has an annual membership to VE, you will be eligible to receive an additional 5% off of all non-sale item gear purchases. An annual VE membership provides you with a 15% discount, combined with the TCRC Meetup Member Benefit Card, you will receive 20% off of all regularly priced items!
To take part in one of these two great offers, simply purchase a Benefit Card and present it on Thursday nights or anytime you make a gear purchase. VE will not honor this deal if you do not present your card. We simply have too large of a database for VE to verify who is and isn't signed up with Meetup and active among our group.
The math on this thing
For climbers taking advantage of the first offer, you will realize a positive return on your investment in the Benefit Card on only your second Thursday night visit to VE! (in only one night if you need harness or belay rental)
For climbers taking advantage of the second offer, you will realize a positive return on your investment after $100+ worth of gear purchases. Shoes, a rope, or a few cams and you are already there.
The Benefit Card will be the size of a business card inside of a laminated sleeve and will be mailed to you. It will be valid for one year. Since it is laminated, you can punch a hole in it and attach it to your harness. The Meetup logo on one side can serve as an identifier to other Meetup climbers.
The card will be available for purchase through PayPal. If you are interested in purchasing a card but have an objection to using PayPal, you can email me at [address removed] to make arrangements to mail a check or cash.
My goal is to get a few more businesses on board with offering our group a discount or other deals using the Benefit Card. Many of us having been frequenting the Pizza Luces in St Paul and Uptown after climbing nights for a couple of years. Imagine a dollar off your tab once a week for a year ($52 value) or $5 off of a $50 gift card. A few informal conversations have been had and the door is open for further discussions.
Further math on this thing
Each Benefit Card is going to cost me about a buck to produce and mail, not including my time involved. PayPal fees take another $.45 out of the $5 cost, leaving about $3.55 to sit in an account I’ve created for this program. Our Meetup site costs the acting Organizer $144 annually when paid in six month increments. Profits collected from Benefit Card sales will be applied towards Organizer dues. Should the account collect more than that amount, the funds will be used at the Organizer’s discretion. Some ideas right now include funding the sale of t-shirts, fronting camping reservation costs for future events, and hosting a party or picnic at some reservable space.
How to buy the TCRC Meetup Member Benefit Card
Visit www.paypal.com and send $5.00 to [address removed], follow up by sending an email to that same address with the name that you want to appear on your card. The name on your card must match the name on your VE membership for VE to process your discount.
The TCRC Meetup Group is not responsible for lost cards. All Benefit Card deals are subject to change. Benefit Cards must have authorized signature and valid dates to be accepted. Counterfeit Benefit Cards will be denied and offenders removed from the TCRC Meetup Group permanently. Purchasing a TCRC Meetup Member Benefit Card is a non-refundable transaction.
