OK, we?ve all seen the weather reports for Saturday and it looks kind of bad; 72 and t-storms with 40% precipitation. According to wunderground?s hourly report (like weather forecasters can be that accurate), it says the rain is more likely in the afternoon. If it is storming when we wake up on Saturday morning, I guess we will have to reschedule, but if things are clear, I say we go for it. If you are unsure, you can call or text me. If it is storming, I will send out an email to everyone and update the meetup site saying the trip is canceled.A note for beginners:
I have received a few emails asking about skill levels and I just wanted to say that any skill level is welcome and it is up to your own comfort level to determine what you want to climb. A harness is definitely required and shoes are highly recommended. REI rents shoes, but I was unable to find anywhere to rent harnesses.
It seems we have many interests in car pooling and I don?t know if people are emailing each other to work things out or what. My car only fits 4 (the backseat has a console in the middle rather than a middle seat) and I have my son and Brian. I could fit one more and I live in SW Minneapolis. From what I can tell, those interested in carpooling live in fairly close proximity: Jane in S Minneapolis, Chandra in Minneapolis, Heather in Richfield, James in Eagan, Michelle in Eagan, and Mike in Forest Lake. If I missed you and you are interested in carpooling, by all means email. It?s about an hour drive and aside from saving the environment, it?s just more fun to ride together.
I have one rope, a set of small nuts, a couple tri cams, 50? of webbing, and some slings. Others: at least 2 other set ups, 1 rope, some extra shoes and a woman?s harness. This means 3 for sure set ups and currently 12
climbers. Jess has kindly offered her gear which I can hopefully pick up, making 4 set ups. A couple people said they have gear, but didn?t specify what or how much, so there may be 1 or 2 more sets. We can take over the column area.Tentative schedule
(depending on weather):
Arrive at 9am
Set climbs from 9-10 or 11ish
Climb for a couple hours
Bring a snack or a sandwich for lunch
Climb for a few more hours
Depart whenever we are too beat to climb anymore
Awesome pizza and ice cream at the joint down the road from the park - I don?t know the name, but it?s yummy and close.Schedule is subject to change, alter, warp, or be completely off at random.
Enough rambling from me. Climb on!!!
