New Meetup: Sandstone Ice Festival

Announcing a new Meetup for Twin Cities Rock Climbing Meetup Group!

What: Sandstone Ice Festival

When: December 13,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Bring it on, old man winter! What better way to celebrate the oncoming winter season than getting ready to play in the coldest of it? Show me the ice!

The Sandstone Ice Festival marks it's fourth year with expanded winter sports coverage. Along with ice climbing, this year's event will also include winter camping and snow shoeing. The Ice Festival brings together ice climbers from all over the midwest, winter campers, snow shoers, skiers, and anyone else who enjoys the frozen outdoors.

For one weekend in December, people who love the cold will gather with people who love winter camping, ice climbing, snow shoeing and skiing. Attend the clinics, eat some chili, climb, hike, ski or just hang out with some "cool" people.

It all takes place on the edge of the beautiful and wild Kettle River in Sandstone, Minnesota.

The clinic is all weekend, from December 12-14. Check out the website for full schedule of events and information at Clinics are free (donation suggested), but you need to pre-register; contact [address removed] List your top three preferences for clinics you would like to attend and they will do their best to place everyone. You will receive a confirmation notice shortly after you register.

I plan on heading over there Friday night or Saturday morning and leaving Sunday afternoon, but the clinics are everyday and you can stay or go for as much or as little as you want.

Let's use the discussion board to facilitate car pooling, planning, and camping thoughts.

Thanks, Clara for this awesome idea :)
