Stargazing & Equinox Viewing

We'll be coming up on the equinox, so let's take a peek at the fall sky. This time of year often provides the best skies so there's a good chance for crisp viewing.

The venue has changed to the Eisenhower Observatory in Hopkins. It's a 12" telescope in a dome on the roof of the school. The event begins at 7 and we'll head up for a great night of viewing.

You always have these things in the middle of the week and my job requires me to be an early riser. Can't be helped.

Just a reminder, Saturday Oct. 12th there is an event.

Oops - first it said 7 and then it said 8:15 and now it's back to 7. I'm so sorry - I can't get there by 7 PM so I'll try again next time. Thank you for taking the time to organize this. I know it's a lot of work! The group really sounds fun, though. GD

We'll be there until about 9, Gracey. So, if you can't make it, that's OK, but if you can, that's great, too.

We will be in washout conditions tonight. However, I will still head over to Eisenhower where we can do a Q&A and visit with the scope. I'll bring a couple pizzas, my computer, and talk shop.

Please note that the start time is 7:00. People tend to come later, but we will start at 7. I generally start with Q&A and some fun space news to share before heading up to the scope. This will go rain or shine!

This event is more formal than the backyard ones. I won't be able to answer my phone except for emergencies. (952)[masked] is the number to call. But if you map out the address above, you can't miss it. Really. Enter through the main front doors, come up to room 347.

Darn! I could go to Hopkins almost any time. Was looking forward to stargazing right in my neighborhood. Let me know next time you plan to set up at Nokomis.

Jeanne, we've been running monthly shows. October might be tricky because of some other events happening. Sorry you won't make this one but hope to see you at the next.

Hey, all. I've been asked to stand in at the Eisenhower Observatory Tuesday night and have accepted. That means I would like all of you to come over to the Eisenhower and view through the 12" scope in the dome instead of at Nokomis. I know that impacts those without cars but hopefully people will find a way. I've changed the venue to reflect the change (it's also a little earlier).

The Eisenhower Observatory is atop the Hopkins Community Center. It's free though a $2 donation per adult is requested. I won't be looking to see who drops money in the box :) We'll start with about 45 minutes of Q&A then head up for viewing.

Hope to see everyone there -- Larry

If it rains I might not make it, if the groups cancel because of rain, please post it online, else if the evening is clear, I'll stop by and see the night sky.

Sorry, seems like I'm not going to be able to make it after all.

Sadly, I can not make it Tuesday. Have a great time. I look forward to joining you all again soon.

I'm new to the club, it'll be a great experience seeing the night sky. Thanks for the invitation, and hope to meet new people.

EVERYONE! I now have to take a trip Wednesday night and won't be able to make this. I've changed this to TUESDAY, the night before, and I really hope all these great RSVP's can move over a day. Sorry again for changing but not a lot of choice with this one.

I would like to bring my telescope for this day, could anyone give me a lift? I live on Franklyn and Bloomington Ave. I'd rather that than have to travel by bus.

Will arrive after choir practice, around 9:15

That sounds good. We'll still be there. Note that you should head for the Sand Castle restaurant (which will be closed by then) .. that's the "inside" road in Nokomis, not the "outside" road. You might miss us otherwise.

Yay! Thanks for scheduling this Larry. I'm very excited to see everyone again.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
