I'll keep an eye out for any and maybe I can help promote a few yet this season.

We should not have gone faster than what the ride was listed. It's important to learn how to group ride. Believe me, I know! I hope you will come to other "slow" rides. We will keep pace with you!

I got a great workout on that ride but I don't want to slow others down when I'm the only one who can't keep pace. It's not fair to the others.

Linda, it was great to have you along. I tried to stay to the posted pace, but attendees urged me to step it up a bit. Lesson learned: stick to the posted pace. Others who want to go fast are welcome to do so, but will have to charge ahead on their own. I connected with our other riders who came with kids and did a slow circle of Calhoun with them. I am still learning as a ride leader and appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Tamsie,
Thanks for hosting a beautiful ride on a beautiful day. I have to apologize for getting lost and losing the group. If you follow my posts on Facebook, you will see that getting lost on bike trails seems to be one of the best things I do!

Linda, you did GREAT! I remember my first group ride. It was hard to keep up and learn how to ride with group all at once. You did GREAT. I hope to see you again.

So sorry! I biked 8 hard miles yesterday and I'm feeling more in a rest mode this morning. I look forward to the next one!

    What does clipping in mean?

Yes Kathy this ride is named for you! No crashes or accidents on this one. It should be easy-going the whole way. As for a gathering afterwards, it might be too late for breakfast and a little early for lunch when we finish but we should have a treat at least somewhere at the finish. Bring your suggestions!

Rose, the distance around Lake Calhoun is just over 3 miles. Just under 3 miles for Lake of the Isles and about the same for Lake Harriet. I was thinking we could circle Lake Calhoun with one or two rest stops, see how people are doing and tackle one or two of the other lakes if the group is up to it. Speed will be 10-12 MPH average, so we might go a little faster or slower at some points. We will keep the group together at all times. This is mostly a social ride but also a chance to practice group riding. I think that a 9 am start will mean less traffic on the trail than later in the day.

I am not sure if this ride is named for me or some other Kathy, but seeing as it IS named Kathy's Ride and it doesn't start at an unseemly hour, Don and I will be there. But . . . do we get to eat after? LOL

What's the distance on this ride? How fast? My daughter wants to go but is a beginner to meet up rides!
